Our mission

The Somerset County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team is an entity of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, of Pennsylvania, having oversight and authority over all aspects of the Team. The Team is committed to providing, maintaining, and deploying the highest levels of proficiency and professionalism in responding to emergency dispatches for lost and missing persons. The Team’s primary function is to locate persons lost and or missing in Somerset County or neighboring jurisdictions in a safe, proficient, and efficient manner. They employ the latest technology and training in the location of missing persons. A secondary function of the Team is to assist other governmental agencies as authorized by the acting Sheriff. Every member of the Team has committed themselves on a volunteer basis to locate those missing and in peril.
